On or about Thursday, January 27th, 2022, around 7:40 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a dump truck hauling sand left a 30-year-old resident of Mexico dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 302 in Winkler County, Texas.
Law enforcement officials from the Texas DPS said 30-year-old Julian Espino-Mendoza was killed when a dump truck hauling sand allegedly pulled out of a business and slammed into the tractor-trailer Espino-Mendoza was driving. Emergency responders pronounced Espino-Mendoza dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Kermit, which is roughly 158 miles southwest of Lubbock.
Texas DPS and local authorities are investigating the accident.
