On or about Thursday, January 27th, 2022, around 7:40 in the morning, an accident between a sand truck and a tractor-trailer left a 30-year-old man from Mexico dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 302 just outside Kermit in Winkler County, Texas.

Investigators said 30-year-old Julian Espino-Mendoza was killed when a truck hauling sand allegedly turned out of Black Mountain Sand Plant and struck Mendoza’s tractor-trailer. Emergency responders pronounced Espino-Mendoza dead of his injuries a short time after he was freed from the wreckage.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about five miles east of Kermit, which is roughly 400 miles southwest of downtown Dallas.
