On or about Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, around 5:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a car and a parked tow truck left a 58-year-old man dead. Deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 35 in San Antonio, Texas.

Texas DPS Troopers said 58-year-old Julian Lira was killed when his car allegedly struck a flatbed tow truck that was parked with emergency lights on. A portion of the tow truck pierced the cabin of Lira’s Mercedes, killing him. No other injuries were mentioned by police in their preliminary statement.

Investigators mentioned that the angle of the sun may have been a factor in the accident, given the time of day.

Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the accident.
