On or about Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, around 6:00 in the morning, an accident between a teenage cyclist and a tractor-trailer left a young woman dead. Authorities from the area said the accident occurred at the intersection of South Long Lake Road and U.S. 31 in Interlochen, Michigan.
Police said 16-year-old Kaitlynn Peltier was killed when she was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as she was riding her bike through the intersection of South Long Lake Road and Highway 31. Emergency responders pronounced Peltier dead a short time after the accident. Authorities did not mention any other injuries in their statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 31 runs east and west of Interlochen, which is about 245 miles northwest of Detroit.
Police are still investigating the accident.
