On or about Saturday, December 11th, 2021, around 5:22 in the morning, a major accident between a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck, and an 18-wheeler claimed the lives of two men from Haughton. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported on State Highway 315 at the intersection of County Road 106 just outside Carthage in Panola County, Texas.
Texas DPS spokespeople said 34-year-old Kaleb Hamby and 28-year-old Gabriel Webb were killed when the pickup truck they were in was allegedly rear-ended by a tractor-trailer driven by 34-year-old James Wilson, which pushed the pickup truck into the back of an 18-wheeler driven by 53-year-old Gregory Baulkman. After the initial collision, the pickup truck burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced Hamby and Webb dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Paramedics transported Wilson and Baulkman to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance east of Carthage, which is situated about 159 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
