On or about Monday, December 14th, 2020, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of one woman and sent a man to the hospital. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened along Highway 97 near the intersection with Highway 58 just outside Chemult, Oregon.
State Police said Karen and David Goulding were in an SUV that was allegedly hit by an 18-wheeler that slid over the center line of the highway. Karen Goulding died at the scene of the accident. Paramedics transported David Goulding to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police identified the driver of the 18-wheeler as Paramjit Singh, who was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Officials noted both weather and speed as factors that may have contributed to the accident.
Oregon State Police and local law enforcement are investigating.
