On or about Saturday, December 18th, 2021, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a pickup truck towing a trailer sent a 45-year-old man to the hospital. Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Highway 63 near the exchange with County Road 1395 in Burkeville, Texas.
Local law enforcement spokespeople said 45-year-old Keeymo Martin was injured when the SUV he was driving allegedly collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer while attempting to make a turn into a driveway. Paramedics transported Martin to Jasper Memorial Hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity. Officials identified the driver of the pickup truck as James Jones, who was unhurt in the collision, along with his passenger, Ray Robert.
According to Google Maps, Burkeville sits about 154 miles northeast of downtown Houston.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
