Details:
On or about Friday, November 13th, 2020, around 11:00 in the morning, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 68-year-old Burley man. Authorities said the accident happened along Interstate 86 just outside American Falls, Idaho.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said 68-year-old Kent Gwilliam was killed when the westbound tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly lost control when it hit a patch of ice and crashed through the median and crashed in the eastbound lanes. Gwilliam was ejected from the vehicle in the crash and died of his injuries a short time after EMS responded to the scene.
Google Maps shows Interstate 86 has four lanes, with a wide, grassy median separating east and westbound traffic. American Falls is located about 25 miles east of Pocatello.
The investigation into the accident is still active and ongoing.
