On or about Monday, September 13th, 2021, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident between two tractor-trailers left a 37-year-old Shreveport man dead. Troopers from the LSP said the accident was reported along Highway 5 at or near the intersection with Highway 301 in De Soto Parish, Louisiana.
Investigators said 37-year-old Lakendrick Thomas was killed when the 18-wheeler he was driving was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that had crossed from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes. Emergency responders pronounced Thomas dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Police identified the driver of the northbound tractor-trailer as Chad Sharpley, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 5 runs north and south through De Soto Parish, which is about 43 miles south of Shreveport.
