On or about Thursday, April 8th, 2021, an accident between an MTA bus and a pedestrian left a 59-year-old man dead. Officials from the NYPD said the accident was reported near the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.
Authorities said 59-year-old Lance Margolin was killed when an MTA bus allegedly struck a pole, which fell onto Margolin, who was walking nearby. Paramedics rushed Margolin to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the incident in their initial statement.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue is a short distance from the center of Brooklyn.
NYPD and Mass Transit Authority officials are investigating the incident.
