On or about Monday, October 11th, 2021, around 3:54 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer rollover accident claimed the life of a 64-year-old man. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along County Road 83 just outside LaFayette in Chambers County, Alabama.
Investigators said 64-year-old Larry Smith was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly skidded off the side of the road and rolled when the truck’s load unexpectedly shifted while navigating a curve on County Road 83. Emergency responders pronounced Smith dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained when he was partially ejected from the truck. Police did not mention any other injuries or vehicles in their initial report on the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 5 miles south of LaFayette, which is about 84 miles northeast of Montgomery.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
