On or about Thursday, March 11th, 2021, around 11:52 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer sent an 81-year-old man to the hospital. Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened along Toledo Road in Jewett, Illinois.
Troopers from the ISP said 81-year-old Larry Swim was injured when his car allegedly struck an 18-wheeler that was parked along the side of Toledo Road. Emergency responders rushed Swim to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Cole Hille, who refused medical treatment following the accident.
Google Maps shows Jewett is located roughly 204 miles south of downtown Chicago.
Illinois State Police and local law enforcement are investigating.
