On or about Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, an accident between a car and a heavy-duty pickup truck claimed the life of an 18-year-old Monahans woman. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 176 in Martin County, Texas.
Investigators said 18-year-old Latresa A. Powers was killed when a Ford F-350 driven by Zachary Johnson allegedly struck her car while Powers was turning across the eastbound lanes of Highway 176. Paramedics pronounced Powers dead of her injuries at the scene. Johnson and his passenger, identified as Douglas Baker did not report injuries after the collision.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Tarzan, which is about 97 miles south of Lubbock.
Police are still looking into the accident.
