On or about Thursday, November 18th, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 26-year-old Athens woman. Deputies from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of SR 316 and Barber Creek Road in Statham, Georgia.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol said 26-year-old Lauranne Teyssier was killed when the westbound SUV she was driving allegedly hit the side of a tractor-trailer that had blocked the westbound lanes of SR 316 as it had entered the roadway. Paramedics pronounced Teyssier dead of her injuries at the scene. Officials from the GSP identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 66-year-old Richard Fearing, who is potentially facing charges stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Statham is about 55 miles east of downtown Atlanta.
Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
