Details:
On or about Thursday, December 17th, 2020, around 9:16 in the evening, an accident between a box truck and a pedestrian claimed the life of one man. Officers said the accident happened at the Walmart Supercenter on North Broadway Avenue in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Local law enforcement representatives said Lawrence Anthony Garcia was killed when he was allegedly struck by a box truck in the parking lot. Paramedics rushed Garcia to nearby Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center where he died of his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of the box truck allegedly left the scene of the accident.
Authorities later tracked down 27-year-old Joshua Tanner Jones in connection with the accident.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol and officers from the PPD are investigating the accident.
