On or about Friday, September 24th, 2021, around 9:00 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 72-year-old truck driver. Investigators from the ISP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 474 in Peoria County, Illinois.
Police said 72-year-old Lawrence Dooley was killed when the dump truck he was driving was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer when Dooley stopped or slowed in traffic. Paramedics airlifted Dooley to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 474 runs east and west along the southern edge of downtown Peoria.
