Details:
On or about Sunday, October 11th, 2020, a pedestrian accident with an 18-wheeler left a 23-year-old woman dead. The accident happened on Highway 58 near Mount Vernon in East Bakersfield, California.
Troopers from the CHP said that 23-year-old Layloni Ariel Ashely Rue was killed when she allegedly stepped into the eastbound lanes of Highway 58 when she was hit by a passing tractor-trailer. Rue was subsequently hit by several other cars and died of her injuries at the scene.
An examination of the area on Google Maps shows that Highway 58 is a six lane major thoroughfare divided by a wide grassy median and runs east/west on the southern portion of Bakersfield.
State Police are aiding local law enforcement with the investigation.
