On or about Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, around 7:30 in the evening, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 59-year-old Glenmora man. Troopers from the LSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Highway 165 in Allen Parish, Louisiana.
Law enforcement representatives from the area said 59-year-old Leon Henry Wallace Jr. was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck his pickup truck as the 18-wheeler was merging onto southbound Highway 165 near the exchange with Pawnee road. Emergency responders pronounced Wallace dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as James Randal Gowen, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 165 cuts north and south through the center of Allen Parish, which is about 206 miles northwest of New Orleans.
Authorities are still investigating the collision.
