Details:
On or about Friday, February 11th, 2022, around 11:11 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left a 58-year-old woman dead. Authorities from the NSP said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of Highway 30 and 355th Avenue just outside Duncan in Platte County, Nebraska.
Investigators said 58-year-old Lerae Ahlers was killed when a hay bale allegedly fell from the back of a tractor-trailer and struck Ahlers’ vehicle in the oncoming lanes of traffic. Paramedics pronounced Ahlers dead of her injuries after the accident but it is not immediately clear if she died at the scene, or if she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Duncan, which is about 81 miles northwest of Lincoln.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
