On or about Friday, January 7th, 2022, around 10:32 at night, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a disabled passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 68-year-old Louisiana woman. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 20 just outside Kilgore in Gregg County, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers said 68-year-old Linda Blaney was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into her disabled vehicle on Interstate 20. After the initial collision, Blaney’s vehicle burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced Blaney dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 40-year-old Jeremy Ragle, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about a mile and a half west of Kilgore, which is roughly 119 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Authorities are still looking into the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
