On or about Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, around 5:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a cyclist and a tractor-trailer sent a 52-year-old woman to the hospital. Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of South Main Street and South Vallie Street in Kirbyville, Texas.
Law enforcement officials said 52-year-old Linda Wheeler was injured when she was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as she was riding her bike at or near the intersection of South Main Street and South Vallie Street. Emergency responders rushed Wheeler to a nearby hospital where she was treated for injuries of an unknown nature or severity. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Nicholas Hagen, who was unhurt in the incident.
According to Google Maps, Kirbyville is situated about 134 miles northeast of Houston.
Police are still investigating.
