On or about Saturday, June 19th, 2021, around 8:04 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck and two cyclists sent a 61-year-old woman to the hospital. Investigators said the accident was reported along Highway 34 just outside Italy in Ellis County, Texas.
Police said 61-year-old Lisa Bick was injured when a dump truck allegedly struck her from behind as she was riding her bike on the eastbound side of Highway 34. Paramedics rushed Bick to a nearby hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident. Thomas Bick was riding alongside Lisa, and was also struck, but was not transported to the hospital. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement.
Authorities mentioned the dump truck driver may have been blinded by the sun at the time of the accident.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
