On or about Sunday, September 20th, 2020, around 4:30 in the afternoon, a rear-end collision between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck claimed the life of an 84-year-old man. Police said the accident happened near the intersection of Highway 119 and Weise Road in Goliad County, Texas.
Authorities believe that 84-year-old Lloyd Weise was killed when his pickup truck was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer driven by a man who may have closed his eyes at the wheel. Weise was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time after the collision.
According to the trucker’s logs, the driver had been behind the wheel for about 17 hours. The truck driver did not report injuries following the crash.
Google Maps shows Goliad County is situated about 101 miles southeast of San Antonio.
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the accident.
