On or about Friday, December 24th, 2021, around 1:50 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 28-year-old Florida man. Authorities from the AST said the accident was reported along Interstate 65 just outside Jemison in Chilton County, Alabama.

Alabama State Troopers said 28-year-old Lonnie Fowler was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that had swerved off the side of Interstate 65. Fowler was working on his vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway when he and the vehicle were both struck by the tractor-trailer. Fowler died of his injuries a short time after the accident. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 50-year-old Charlie Edwin Rogers. Police did not indicate if Rogers was injured in the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 3 miles south of Jemison, which is about 46 miles south of downtown Birmingham.

Police are still investigating the accident.
