Details:

Lorraine Chavez was killed and six people injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a box truck along I-580 near Reno, NV. Troopers with the Nevada State Police say the accident took place around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The SUV was travelling south when it slowed down, while the box truck behind it did not. It crashed into the vehicle, pushing it into three other vehicles around it. Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other occupants received injuries ranging from minor to critical.

The teens were part of the San Antonio Empire Volleyball Club, and had been in Reno for a qualifying tournament. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
