On or about Thursday, August 5th, 2021, around 1:00 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman. Investigators from the DPS said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 190 and Highway 63 in Jasper, Texas.
Investigators from the Department of Public Safety said 62-year-old Louise Carter was killed when the SUV she was driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Highway 190 and Highway 63. Emergency responders pronounced Carter dead of her injuries at the scene of the accident. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Samuel Joe Johnson, who was uninjured in the crash.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Highway 190 and Highway 63 is situated on the west side of Jasper, which is about 134 miles northeast of downtown Houston.
Authorities are still working to pin down what may have led to the accident.
