On or about Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, around 10:08 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer left one woman dead and sent a man to the hospital. Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of the Hal Rogers Parkway and Barnett Street in Somerset, Kentucky.

Police from the area said 76-year-old Luta Turner was killed and 75-year-old Phillip Tuner was injured when the pickup truck they were in was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer while they were attempting to turn onto the westbound lanes of Hal Rogers Parkway. Luta Turner was pronounced dead of her injuries a short time after the accident, while Phillip Turner was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was last reported in critical condition by medical staff.

According to Google Maps, Somerset is situated about 128 miles southeast of Louisville.

Police are still investigating the accident.
