On or about Monday, October 12th, 2020, around 3:24 in the afternoon, an accident between a car hauling truck and a car left a man and woman injuries. Texas DPS said the accident happened on Highway 290 near the intersection with Rim Rock Trail in Travis County, Texas.

Police said 82-year-old Alfonso Meza and 77-year-old Maria Meza were injured when the car they were in was allegedly struck by a car hauler that had rolled backwards. Authorities believe the truck driver may have been looking at directions on his phone when the truck rolled into the path of the Meza’s car. Both Alfonso and Maria sustained injuries in the collision.

Looking at the area on Google Streetview shows Highway 290 as four lanes, with a shared turn lane dividing east and westbound traffic. The turnoff for Rim Rock Trail appears to be at a noticeable incline. The intersection is situated in the far west part of Austin.

Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the crash.
