Details:
On or about Monday, July 19th, 2021, around 1:40 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer left an 18-year-old Lubbock man. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred along Interstate 27 just outside New Deal in Lubbock County, Texas.
Authorities from the area said 18-year-old Mark Anthony Holmes was killed when he was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer when he was standing near his disabled pickup truck on the side of Interstate 27. Emergency responders pronounced Holmes dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Douglas Dwayne Rogers, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 27 runs north and south through the center of New Deal, which is situated about 12 miles north of downtown Lubbock.
Police are still investigating the accident.
