On or about Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, around 6:30 in the morning, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a car left a 59-year-old man dead. Police spokespeople said the accident happened in the 6600 block of Route 29 West in Champaign County, Ohio.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said 59-year-old Mark Roderick was killed when his car allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer that was backing into a driveway. Paramedics rushed Roderick to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries a short time after his arrival. Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Brian Houpt, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 38 miles west of Columbus.
State Police is assisting local law enforcement with the investigation.
