Details:
On or about Friday, August 20th, 2021, around 9:19 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer, a van, and a pickup truck left two people dead. Investigators from the ISP said the accident was reported along Interstate 70 just outside of Mulberry Grove, Illinois.
Illinois State Police said 19-year-old Cole Young and 20-year-old Marsada Connors were killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the van they were in when the truck veered over the center line of Interstate 70. Emergency responders pronounced both Young and Conners dead of their injuries a short time after the accident. The tractor-trailer allegedly struck a nearby pickup truck in addition to the van. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 55-year-old Billy Lard from Los Angeles, who was airlifted to the hospital following the crash.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 70 runs east and west, with the scene of the accident situated about 60 miles east of St. Louis.
Police are still looking into the cause of the crash.
