Details:
On or about Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, around 10:40 at night, a major accident between a dump truck and a passenger vehicle left one teenager dead and sent another to the hospital. Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported along Interstate 35 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Officials from the Iowa State Police said 17-year-old Marshal McManus was killed, while an as-of-yet unidentified 18-year-old woman was injured when a dump truck allegedly slammed into the Mini Cooper they were in on the shoulder of I-35. Emergency responders pronounced McManus dead a short time after the accident, while the 18-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital by EMS.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the exchange with Mills Civic Parkway on the west side of Des Moines.
Authorities are still investigating.
