On or about Saturday, August 28th, 2021, around 12:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car claimed the life of a 47-year-old man and sent a 64-year-old man to the hospital. Troopers from the ASP said the accident occurred along Highway 67 in Randolph County, Arkansas.

Officials said 47-year-old Marty Thompson was killed when the car he was driving allegedly crossed over the center line of Highway 67 and struck a tractor-trailer driven by 64-year-old Stephen Bergman. Paramedics pronounced Thompson dead a short time after the accident, while Bergman was taken to Five Rivers Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Highway 67 runs north and south through Randolph County, which is situated on the Missouri state line, a short distance north of Jonesboro.

State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene of the incident.
