On or about Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a disabled vehicle and a tractor-trailer left two people dead and sent a third to the hospital. Highway Patrol officials said the accident happened on the Delaware Memorial Bridge in New Castle, Delaware.

Investigators said a tractor-trailer driven by a 30-year-old man allegedly slammed into a disabled vehicle driven by 37-year-old Mary Sanderlin. Paramedics pronounced Sanderlin and her passenger, 29-year-old Rudolf Parish, dead at the scene. One other person in the vehicle was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officials had to close down multiple lanes on the Delaware Memorial Bridge in order to tend to the scene of the crash.

Officials are still investigating.
