On or about Monday, November 8th, 2021, around 9:37 in the morning, a serious accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer left a 26-year-old Andrews man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market 181 just outside Goldsmith in Ector County, Texas.
Police said 26-year-old Matthew Allen Larue was killed when the Cadillac CTS he was driving allegedly veered over the center line of FM 181 and struck a tractor-trailer in the oncoming lanes. Larue died of his injuries after the accident, but police did not indicate if he died at the scene, or if he succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital. Officials did not mention any other injuries in their report on the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about four miles east of Goldsmith, which is roughly 144 miles south of Lubbock.
Officials are still looking into the cause of the accident.
