On or about Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, around 11:45 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler left a 40-year-old Kress man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 179 and County Road 195 in Hale County, Texas.
Law enforcement officials said 40-year-old Matthew Cy Jackson was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly hit a turning 18-wheeler driven by Rodolfo Garcia as Jackson attempted to pass the turning truck. After the initial collision, Jackson’s tractor-trailer rolled. Paramedics pronounced Jackson dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident at Farm-to-Market 179 and County Road 195 is about 40 miles north of Lubbock.
Police are still investigating the accident.
