On or about Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, around 2:40 in the morning, a major tractor-trailer hit-and-run accident left a 54-year-old man dead. Troopers from the VSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 81 in Roanoke, Virginia.
Representatives from the Virginia State Police said 54-year-old Matthew C. Frazier was killed when he was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as he was unloading a VDOT contractor truck along Interstate 81. After the initial accident, the tractor-trailer fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced Frazier dead of his injuries a short time after the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the exchange with Loch Haven Drive.
Officials are still looking for the driver and truck that fled the scene.
