On or about Saturday, December 18th, 2021, around 9:00 at night, a multi-vehicle accident from a suspected oil spill sent four individuals to the hospital. Representatives from the DPS said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 35 in Denton, Texas.

Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 33-year-old Megan Ashlock, a 10-year-old boy and two other people were injured when a tractor-trailer either leaked or dumped oil into the northbound lanes of Interstate 35, causing four other vehicles to crash in a chain-reaction accident in the slick conditions. Paramedics transported Megan Ashlock and a 10-year-old passenger to the hospital with unknown injuries, while two other individuals were also transported.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 35 runs north and south through Denton, which is about 40 miles north of downtown Dallas.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
