Details:
On or about Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, around 10:00 at night, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 84 just outside Post in Garza County, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers said 40-year-old Melissa Ann Torres was killed when she was allegedly hit by a passing motorist as she was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Highway 84. Emergency responders pronounced Torres dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about six miles north of Post, which is about 40 miles southeast of downtown Lubbock.
Officials are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
