Details:
On or about Thursday, October 29th, 2020, around 11:50 in the morning, a major accident involving a commercial truck left one woman dead and sent three others to the hospital. Officers said the accident happened on Highway 30 in Roans Prairie, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers indicated that 41-year-old Melissa Joyce McCarty was killed when the car she was in skidded off the side of the road and collided with a tree when it swerved to avoid a collision with a commercial truck. The car allegedly attempted to pass the truck just as it was attempting a left turn.
McCarty died at the scene, while the driver 58-year-old Scotty Lee Logue, and passengers, 17-year-old Anthony Bridges and a 2-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital where they were last reported in stable condition.
Looking at State Highway 30 in the area on Google Maps shows a two lane roadway that runs east and west through the heart of Roans Prairie, which is located roughly 88 miles north of Houston.
Multiple agencies are still investigating the accident at this time.
