On or about Tuesday, November 30th, 2021, around 5:15 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 55-year-old Hannibal man dead. Troopers from the MSHP said the accident was reported along Highway 19 just outside Perry in Ralls County, Missouri.

Officials from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said 55-year-old Melvin Hisel was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Highway 19. Emergency responders pronounced Hisel dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the incident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is roughly 3 miles south of Perry, which is about 118 miles northwest of St. Louis.

Officers are still investigating the accident.
