On or about Thursday, October 8th, 2020, an accident between a car and an 18-wheeler claimed the life of a Boston, Georgia resident. The accident happened in the northbound lanes of U.S. 127 near the exchange with Mt. Hope Road in Lansing, Michigan.

Michigan State Police said that 22-year-old Michael Barber was killed when his grey four-door sedan was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer from behind after a previous rear-end collision on Highway 127. Investigators did not clarify if the accident was a chain reaction, or two separate events.

Barber was ejected from his vehicle in the collision and subsequently died of his injuries.

Troopers tweeted that the “Preliminary investigation indicates the cause of all the crashes was Violation of Basic Speed Law (unable to stop in assured clear distance.)”

Police are still investigating.
