Details:
On or about Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, a box truck accident with a pedestrian left a 56-year-old man dead. Troopers from the NCHP said the accident was reported in a parking lot off Associate Drive in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 56-year-old Michael Dimaio was killed when he was allegedly struck by a backing box truck as he was walking through a parking lot. Paramedics rushed Dimaio to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not detail any other injuries stemming from the accident.
The driver of the box truck has since been charged with improper backing and misdemeanor death by vehicle in connection with the accident.
Police hope to release more information as soon as it becomes available.
