On or about Thursday, February 10th, 2022, around 10:40 in the morning, an accident between a flatbed truck and a passenger vehicle left a 54-year-old man dead. Troopers from the OSHP said the accident was reported along Route 54 near Highway 50 in Springfield, Ohio.
Law enforcement spokespeople from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said 54-year-old Michael Stevenson was killed when the vehicle he was driving allegedly collided with a flatbed truck that had broken down in the lane of traffic. Emergency responders pronounced Stevenson dead a short time after the accident. Police identified the driver of the flatbed truck as 40-year-old Corey Hill, who was treated for unspecified injuries following the crash.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the east side of Springfield.
Police are still investigating the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
