Details:
On or about Sunday, November 8th, 2020, a rear-end hit-and-run accident with an 18-wheeler left a 66-year-old man dead. Ohio State Highway Patrol said the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike in Sandusky County, Ohio.
Troopers said 66-year-old Michael Sweeny was killed when his vehicle allegedly hit the back of a tractor-trailer. Both vehicles drove to the side of the roadway after the accident, but the tractor-trailer left the scene. Sweeny was pronounced dead after he was cut from the wreckage by EMS.
Authorities are still trying to track down the driver of the tractor-trailer.
Examining the Ohio Turnpike on Google Maps shows a four lane interstate, with a concrete barrier wall dividing east and westbound traffic. Sandusky County is located about 37 miles southeast of Toledo.
State Police and Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene of the accident.
