On or about Saturday, November 21st, 2020, around 7:10 in the evening, an accident between an SUV and an 18-wheeler sent a woman and a teenage boy to the hospital. Authorities said the accident happened on Highway 10 just outside Granville, Iowa.

Police said 41-year-old Michelle Swartz and a 14-year-old boy were injured when the GMC SUV they were in was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer hauling farm equipment that was traveling the opposite direction. Paramedics transported Swartz and the teen to nearby Orange City Area Health System Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officers identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Ricky Obbink, who did not report injuries following the crash.

According to Google Streetview, Highway 10 runs east and west with two lanes, and cuts through the southern portion of Granville. The roadway appears to be flanked by grassland on either side. Granville is located about 49 miles northeast of Sioux Falls.

Police hope to release more information at a later date.
