On or about Monday, December 13th, 2021, around 6:20 in the evening, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 26-year-old Caldwell woman. Authorities from the DPS said the accident was reported along Highway 21 near the exchange with Pleasant Hill Road in Brazos County, Texas.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 26-year-old Miranda Meckel was killed when a tractor-trailer driven by Cheka McCoy allegedly failed to yield while pulling out of a private driveway when Meckel’s car struck the back of the 18-wheeler. Emergency responders pronounced Meckel dead of her injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.

Officials have not indicated if McCoy will be cited in connection with the accident.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of Highway 21 and Pleasant Hill Road is situated a short distance northwest of College Station.

Police are still examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
