Details:
On or about Friday, December 17th, 2021, around 11:37 at night, a hit-and-run accident between a cyclist and a car claimed the life of a 28-year-old man. Authorities from the APD said the accident was reported at the intersection of Georgia Street and 16th Avenue in Amarillo, Texas.
Investigators said 28-year-old Mohammad Edris Mohammadi was killed when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle while he was riding his bike along or made an attempt to cross the roadway. The vehicle that struck Mohammadi fled the scene after the accident. Emergency responders rushed Mohammadi to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on December 20th, 2021.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Georgia Street and 16th Avenue is a short distance west of downtown Amarillo.
Police are still investigating the accident.
