On or about Thursday, October 29th, 2020, around 8:00 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident with a tow truck sent a 77-year-old woman to the hospital. Police said the accident happened at the intersection of Northwest 6th Street and Northwest Jackpine Avenue in Redmond, Oregon.
Investigators said that 77-year-old Nancy Newman was injured when she was allegedly hit by a tow truck that subsequently fled the scene. Officers indicated that Newman was crossing the street legally at the time she was struck. Paramedics rushed Newman to a nearby hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have since charged 36-year-old Ryan Bills in connection with the accident.
Examining the area on Google Streetview shows that 6th Street is four lanes with a shared turn lane dividing north and southbound traffic, while Jackpine is two lanes that run east and west.
Police hope to release more information when it becomes available.
