On or about Tuesday, February 9th, 2021, around 9:00 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman. Spokespeople from the MSP said the accident happened along Highway 98 near the intersection with Candy Lane in Pike County, Mississippi.
State Troopers said 76-year-old Nellie Dodd was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck her pickup truck as she was backing into a driveway. Paramedics pronounced Dodd dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was reportedly uninjured. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their preliminary report.
Google Maps shows Pike County is located about 90 miles south of Jackson, Mississippi.
Authorities hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
